2006-09-29 - 3:24 p.m. you wrecked me - tom petty & the heartbreakers i'm not sure what alls going on. things on the homefront have been pretty good. my matty's learning to deal with me, i'm learning to deal with him. we both want specific things from each other and we know how to get those things, but, sometimes we don't have the patience, i guess. so, we kinda hound each other and get all over each others case. in case you're wondering, that never works. yeah...so... we still drive each other crazy, but, we're trying to not let it get to the point where it's just like, fuck you, and leave things tense and pretty much unresolved. i'll freely admit that i;m the one who's more likely to clam up and walk away from stuff. last week, we went dancing and hung out with friends. it was cool. has anyone heard the term, "cum gutters"? i thought i'd heard them all, but, that one was a new one. how about "meat curtains"? yuck. i don't know why it bothers me so much, but, all the guys where i work are leg shavers...and straight. trust me, they're straight. i just think it's wierd, you know? i just couldn't shave it all off. well, to me, i've got pretty hairy legs. it's not like robin williams out of control, but, it's pretty obvious. so, to me, if i did shave it off, it would be so noticable and obvious. plus, i love the way the hair feels. also, as stupid as this may sound, i think grown men who are silky smooth on the legs look super gay. anyway, what i'm working up to is i actually trimmed my legs. it looked okay, i guess. i wouldn't do it again though. too much work, and like i said, i'm now positive that i'm into the au natural look. yeah, i had trimmed hair, emo bangs, and junk this summer. it was kinda lame. i think the bottom line is that i'm too old to do stuff like that. yeah. okay, now that i've admitted to being a complete and total fucking retard, let's move on. tom petty and the heartbreakers, this last tuesday were infuckingcredible!! i mean, amazing. first, the hollywood bowl is such a great place. the strokes opened and they were fantastic. julian sounded extra sexy and the band played flawlessly. once tom andthe heartbreakers came out, you could just feel the electricity. they started out with listen to her heart and a couple of others, then, he said he wanted to play a travelling wilbury's song, and he brought out jeff lynne. that was really cool. after jeff lynne left the stage, i leaned over to my little group and started chanting, "stevie nicks. stevie nicks", and they just laughed. maybe two songs later, tom petty started introducing the band. when he was all done, he said something like, "there's only person who we'd call the 6th member of the heartbreakers...and that person is stevie nicks" YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! i thought i was gonna fucking plotz. there she came, the gypsy queen. with her flowing, gothy black gown and that black tambourine with all the leather and feathers hanging off. she spun around and did all the stevie nicks type stuff you'd expect her to do. they played "stop dragging my heart around", then, she sand lead on the heartbreakers classic "i need to know". she left after those two songs, but, t.p. promised she'd be back later. she came back for learning to fly, don't come around here no more (where she really spun around and rocked out) and she came on a third time for the last song of the night, "american girl" i've got goosebumps, just thinking about it. if i had to bitch, my only complaint was that they didn't play, "here comes my girl" and "don't do me like that". other than that, a perfect night, and an incredible concert. art brut and we are scientists show this weekend. good stuff. we also got tickets for death cab in december in santa barbara. jenny lewis is opening. stoked on that. anyway, i'm done i guess. |
