catching up nothingness

yeah, so......

my last entry was a total bummer, huh?

this one has a point.

well, they all actually do, but, for whatever reason, i can't always stay on course.

anyhow, onward.

the death cab show was fantastic. this is the third time i've seen them and they just get better and better.

not that they sucked the first time, but, it's just better. they progress. they improve.

mates of state were the first act and they were awesome. i love mates of state and they killed. too bad the venue was pretty empty. they even did a short version of "crazy" by gnarles barkley. very cool.

spoon was the next band and they were fine. just fine.

then, of course, death cab. they killed it. completely fantastic.

a lovely sunday evening was had by all.

a coupla days later, we were back in l.a. to check out "quinceanera". it was good. a quinceanera is a mexican sweet sixteen, except, it happens at 15. that's not all it's about. there's lots of stuff about family, acceptance, and also some social commentary in regards to the gentrification of ethnic nieghborhoods.

all in all, good stuff.

we went to the arclight in hollywood to see it. the arclight is this big state of the art cinematic experience sort of place. it's all reserved seating, and you don't wait in line at a box office to get tickets. you either pay for them online, or they have these atm like things in front and you do the touch screen ordering thing and swipe your plastic to pay. kinda cool, i guess. different. there's also a restaurant and bar inside. you could have a nice cocktail before or after the movie.

there's a 24 hour fitness right next door, and of course, amoeba music is right across the street. so, it's a great place to people watch. lots of hotties out and about.

we did breakfast at mel's diner on highland first. good breakfast. had this spinach, mushroom egg white scramble thing. delish. also, good coffee. we hadn't been to the mel's at that location, but, we had been to the one in west hollywood on sunset. it was so different. of course being on highland right down the street from hollywood blvd. it was very touristy. the mel's on sunset is right by the rock clubs, the tower records, just a more clubby area. so, there's more like, tatooed, hip looking folks. whatever. just an observation.

after the movie, we had to go to amoeba. we did something we never thought we'd do. spent no more than 15 minutes inside. which, by the way, is almost impossible to do. if you're a music junkie like matty and i are, amoeba is a......mecca?

yeah, a mecca for music lovers. we never spend less than an hour there. the selection is excellent and overwhelming, in a good way.

and if you take first timers, you'll be there forever.

anyway, props for our 15 minutes. it was so short because the day was about yummy breakfast (something matty and i don't indulge in too often) and seeing the movie.

it's just that to be right next door to amoeba and not going in is like seeing your mom from across the supermarket, and not going over to say hi. it's just not right.

so, we agreed to one cd each and a 15 minute time limit.

my god, but i do go on.

things with matty and i have been sorta off. we were on the couch making out and i was ready to take it to the bedroom, but matty was like, "i wanna talk first. what's up with you, tony? what's going on with you?"

so, i explained myself pretty well.

at least i think i did.

yes, there was some stammering and mumbling, but, that's just par for the course, so, bite me.

anyway, apparently matty was satisfied with my explanation, and things just felt better afterwards.

later, in bed, when we were taking a breather, i told him, i was sorry for being so difficult, but, he knew why AND he knew my personality from the start. i just looked him in the eye and said, "don't give up on me".

he kissed me hard and said, "never".

sounds corny, but, it meant everything to me.

okay, that's enough of that......

-take it / leave it-
