afternoon delight

life goes by so fast, you only wanna do what you think is right - social distortion

i'm drooling over colin farell (farrel?) on trl, right now.

is it just me, or does hillary duff remind anyone of jenna jameson? i swear that she could be her little sister.

i just got out of bed and i'm gonna make breakfast, eventually, i swear, no, really. i'm just...mentally preparing. matt's knocked out, and as much as it kills me to leave his perfect, gloriously naked form, i'm starving, and his post nookie naps are not something him and i have in common.

that's why i'm making us breakfast at almost 1:30 in the afternoon. he's really keen on my thrown together, after whoopie concoctions. what the fuck am i talking about?

social distortion are playing in ventura, next month. i'm so fucking there. don't get me started on how much i psychotically love social d. they're incredible. i've seen them so many times, i can't even remember. one of the best times was at ucsb, at their extravaganza fest. x-fest is a yearly free show at ucsb's athletic field. anyway, a bunch of us went up there early to check out all the bands, which included, ozomatli, the roots, royal crown revue, to name a few.

the day progressed w/o incident, then, just as the sun began to set, here they came, the hardcore social distortion fans. tough peckerwood whiteboys with wife beaters, rolled up dark levis, lots of tats, and lots of menacing attitude. me and my buddies have never had beef w/ any of these types at the shows, except down in o.c. once, but, it's o.c. and mexicans aren't exactly in their element. anyway, they came strolling in, and made their way to the front of the stage, basically forcing the hackey sack playing, neo hippie college kids outta their way. yeah, those kids cleared a path pretty quick. at the end of the show, when they were doing their requisite "ring of fire" finale, the hardcore's jumped whichever college kids hadn't slunked off. it was pretty ugly. of course, the band didn't even stop playing. in fact, i think they kind of enjoyed it. earlier in their set, mike ness had made a comment like, "so, you guy's go to school, huh?", to which most of the crowd cheered. "yeah, i went to school too", he began, "the school of hard knocks", to which the rest of the crowd roared. it was a very us vs. them kinda night.

i couldn't have cared less. i was just there for the free show, right? i've got no beef with college kids. i just thought the whole thing was funny. until the end at least. that shit was outta hand, and uncalled for, you know?

oh, well, rock 'n' roll, right?

alright, now it's really time for food.

later....
