2004-04-06 - 11:30 p.m. get on the floor / let's dance some more - luscious jackson
friday night was by far the best strokes show i've ever seen. they were funny, sounded amazing, and were...present. they were into it. that makes all the difference. julian was very talkitive. they played for about an hour and a half and they just fucking rocked. it was an equal mix from is this it and room on fire. did i mention they sounded amazing? when fab stood up from behind the drums to salute the crowd, the place went apeshit. when julian wanted nick to talk in the mic, the place went apeshit. when albert acted like he was having "the buttlove" with nick, the place went apeshit. when julian kept telling the people in the back that he was going out there, the place went apeshit. when he actually attempted to do it, he got about halfway into the crowd and was enveloped. all you could hear was him saying, "i love you, but, get the fuck off me!!". when he gave up and got back on stage, he looked like he'd been through the wringer. he said, "i love you motherfuckers. when you pull my hair, and spit at me, it's love. you do it out of love and i love you fuckers for it". he was playing at being drunk, but, i think he knew exactly what he was doing. as much as i love them, and i do, there's always that feeling that you're being had. that you're being masterly manipulated. it's not a bad thing, but, it's there. maybe it's cuz i'm getting older. i don't know. the show was fantastic. the performance was fantastic. they really seemed to be enjoying themselves and i loved every fucking minute of it. the end. |
