allllriiiiighty then

happy (belated) thanksgiving!

these last coupla days have been nutty.

tuesday: went to work, came home, had sex with matt cuz i wasn't gonna see him until friday, left for l.a. got to patches place, went out, got drunk, passed out on her couch.

wednesday: woke up unwillingly, got ready, went to the fashion district downtown; tired, hungover, blah, blah, walked around, santee alley was like another planet, music blaring, vendors yelling, "ropas para los todo familia", "5 dollar! 5 dollar! everything 5 dollar!", craaazy, hustle, bustle, overwhelming capitalism on a stick, gucci handbag knockoffs for 10 bucks, watermelon paletas for a quarter, and the latest in cha cha fashion on display, babbling homeless persons, beverly hills matrons pulling handcarts loaded up with bargains galore, craaazy.

wednesday afternoon: downtown to los feliz in a matter of moments, y-que trading post our destination, bought matt a cool t-shirt that says, "gay mafia member", and one that has a fender amp on it, myself a shirt that says, "the white strokes", and one that says, "i love cock", hopped in the jetta and headed to amoeba, patches made jose and i swear that we'd only stay for an hour, bought ikara colt (excellent), and interpol (finally), drove to the palisades to get her check, got to see her costume designer employers home (gorgeous), drove back to west l.a. by way of pch, got back to patches, hung out, drove home to smalltown, and saw matt's car in the driveway, he'd called his mom, told her he was gay, living with me, and wouldn't be coming for thanksgiving, she hung up on him, he cried for a nanosecond, realized he was free, and immediately felt better.

wow.

seems he's been toying with the idea, and asked MY MOM of all people for advice. i guess she answered his questions, like how she REALLY felt when i told her i was gay, how difficult it was to accept the fact, etc. he said she was totally open, and honest, and kind. none of which is surprising, btw. so, he called, and thought why go down there, and be miserable.

thanksgiving was great. my whole family was there. my WHOLE family: mom, dad, brother, sister, sisters boyfriend, two nephews, and my sweet boy. perfect.

the 5, the 10, the 110, the 405, the 1, the 101; the traffic was the same on all of 'em. people speeding up to cut into a lane just to step on the brakes. everyone thinking that one lane over was the place to be. in my hungover, sleep deprived mind i'd made some connection about it being the perfect metaphor for l.a. everybody zooming around looking for something better to come along. whatever...
