2002-03-31 - 11:41 p.m. i love talking to a man who loves to talk - the maltese falcon hey there little friend, well, easter '02' isn't technically over, but over at the 'rents house it is. we just got to my place like a nanosecond ago and i'm writing in this thing. you know what i sorta realized? that my younger cousins think i talk like an old person. so i say 45 instead of 7 inch, or "record shop". what's wrong w/ that? or "album" instead of c.d. i really don't see the diff. oh well...anyway, today was really nice. almost all of my humongous familia was there. as usual there was sooooo much food. matt was relentlessly fed by my aunts. he was gonna go home to his moms, but she decided to not do easter this year. ??? she seems..difficult. so, i told him just come to my folks. he had a really good time. we hid easter eggs for the kids, and he got a kick out of my boyhood room. he also got a bit lucky in my boyhood room, but that's another story. i'm such a geek!! so, i went to l.a. the other day, and i didn't get to have lunch w/ patches - supreme bummer. she had to go work. i got a message on my cell, and i was half afraid it was the job, but, it was her saying "sorry". so matt, and i went to amoeba. it's official, i am an amoeba addict. i bought the walkmen's latest, and desaparecidos (sp?) that is a goddam good album (or c.d. - it's all for the kids) matt bought the pixies b-sides, and a john waters double dvd which has pink flamingos/female trouble, or desperate living - shit, i can't remember. whatev. then we went to farmers market for lunch. we pretty much ate and ran. then we drove to los feliz. i secretly wanted a "free winona" t shirt. there is this store in loz feliz called y-que. it sells misc. weird things. religious candles, sailor jerry glassware, old candy that you used to buy when you were a kid, welcome back kotter notebooks, plastic cockroaches, original art, and t shirts. they have a silkscreening thingie in the store so they make up topical t shirts as they come up. so, like months ago i was down there, and they had these "free winona" t shirts. this was right after her alleged shoplifting bust. i thought the shirts were just goofy fun, and we laughed and kinda said, "oh brother". i came home and told everybody about them. then, a few weeks later, i see them on the news as THE must have t shirt of the moment. you know, like those "frankie says relax" t's. so we went back to the store, and i saw first hand the "free winona" hysteria. they brought out a pile from the back, and they were snatched up w/ a quickness. there was like one size small left. at the time i told myself that i didn't want it then because everybody was buying them. then when we walked back by the store headed back to the car we saw this 45-50 year old woman walking out of y-que pulling that last size small t shirt over her head. oh my god, it was soooo tight. and i thought, shit, i wish i had gotten one. so now that they are sooo five minutes ago, there's like dozens to choose from in various sizes and colors, i bought one. better late than never. well, i'm being called to bed, and there is nowhere else i would rather be so......."free winona", and goodnight |
