2002-02-27 - 1:20 a.m. hello little friend, tonight i went to a free show/record release thingie. phantom planet played a free show in hollywood. i had a good time. after, my friend patches, and i had dinner at roscoe's chicken and waffles. the waitresses are always so nice there. i almost bailed on tonight cuz work was semi trying, but if i let a bad day at work stop me from having fun, then i wouldn't go out nearly as much as i do. also, i'm 28, and frankly, i think my window for doing stuff like this is closing. i look at all these young, happy, peppy people, and i feel old. even though it's not. it's just a personal thing. i guess when i was 19-23? i thought 28 was "old". now that i am 28, or, almost 30, i think i'm not really ready to stop going out. shows, or clubs. although, dance clubs are out. i love dancing. i'm gay, so it's in the handbook. but, my house head club kid days are pretty well over. it's fine though. i clubbed plenty, and i'm glad that i did all that, and had so many wild nights. nowadays, it's more shows, bands, live music, what have you. thankfully i have some friends who are still single, childless, and have what we'll politely refer to as, "flexible schedules". so going out on a tuesday night is completely doable. however, the numbers are dwindling. i love my married/engaged/parent friends, but, i don't really envy them. not yet. love is something i aspire to. is that right? aspiring to love? anyway, love is a great thing, and i have enjoyed variations of it. by the way, i live in a very small town in so.cal. my town has 6 stoplights in the whole town. 3 or 4 of which have been up for less than 5 years. we have 4 fast food joints, and everything closes by 9 or 10. i live a half hour from magic mountain, an hour from l.a. if i left town headed north, i'd hit the beach in half an hour. so l.a. to the south, beach to the north. it's the type of town that you long to escape when your'e younger, and appreciate when you get a little older. goodnight little friend. |
